Meandering Mala Panew in two 1-kilometre studied sections flows through a compact forest complex. Riparian zone is mainly covered with pines (Pinus sylvestris) planted by man and naturally growing black and grey alders (Alnus glutinosa, A. incana), which differently influence the Mala Panew pattern and morphology. In sections where alders predominate the channel is narrower and deeper than in section with predominance of pines. Significantly more coarse woody debris as well as channel landforms generated by them originate in sections, where channel bottom is covered with pines. At coarse woody debris sand shadows and chute bares are mainly created. In sections with predominance of black alder the smaller number of channel landforms occur. They occur in result of influence of obstacles, created by tree trunks and crowns, which lean on the bottom. Alders efficiently protect themselves against felling into the channel and simultaneously reinforce the banks. It appears in inclining towards the channel, in growth of monopodium and shaping of clumps, formation of wide root system as well as formation of clumps advancing towards the midchannel.
