This contribution presents results from laboratory biological tests realised in standard conditions of lighting capacity, temperature and moisture. The influence of the extremely acid soil reaction arrangement by liming on Cd, Pb, Cr and Ni intake by plants with differential requirements on the soil reaction at initial growth and development phases was observed. The extremely acid soil with enhanced Cd and Pb contents from region of Stredný Spiš was used in experiments. The soil Cr and Ni contents in the used soil were lower than their legislative given hygienic limits in the Slovakia. The acidity of soil is caused by anthropic as well as natural influences in region of Stredný Spiš. The results confirmed decreased contents of all determined heavy metals in biomass of young maize and oat plants (36-days) because of a positive influence of the soil reaction arrangement by liming. In the bean biomass of the limed variant only Cd and Ni contents were decreased. In maize and oat roots Cd content in the limed variant was little increased. The Pb contents in limed and non limed variants varied according to the tested plant sort. The significant decreasing of Ni content because of a limig was determined in roots of all tested plants. The relatively lowest cumulation in biomass of tested plants was determined at Pb and Cr. The petrification and anticontamination function of the soil reaction arrangement was confirmed in this experiment.
