In the realization of environmental protection objectives conflicts arise with respect to other companys objectives, with two of them in particular: Short-term economic objectives (short-term profit and the reduction of costs), and environmental protection objectives. It is precisely because of the conflicting nature of these objectives that the decisions concerning the solving of economic and environmental protection problems are so difficult to make. In the paper, methodology for diagnosing the existing ecological situation in wood industry systems, and the selecting of optimal decisions for managing of the same, due to economic and ecological criteria, is presented. Mathematical model, which is based on fuzzy logic, allows to determine the critical ecological parameters in wood industry companies, and by taking into consideration the existing situation, business objectives and demands of consumers, it makes possible to develop an optimal business strategy by using fuzzy goal programming.
