The comparison of two criteria for classification of the quality of spring water in wells and mountain springs in the Low Carpathians is discussed. The first classification scheme is based on traditional chemical properties. The second criterion is according to validification of the spring locality. The hygienic and water producing characteristics of strains and springs in the Low Carpathians are also reported. -Authors
