The aim of Partial Monitoring System (PMS) Food and Animal Feed Contamination is to gain objective data of food and animal feed contamination. The study is designed to gain from a mutual causal nexus with environmental contamination of the Slovak Republic on the one hand and human exposure on the other hand. PMS Food and Animal Feed Contamination is the part of Environment Monitoring programme supported by the Ministry of the Environment in the Slovak Republic. PMS Food and Animal Feed Contamination consists of two subsystems: Co-ordinated Aimed Monitoring (CAM) and Monitoring of Consumer Basket (MCB) and the Ministry of Agriculture for the Slovak Republic is the guarantor. Within the framework of PMS inorganic and organic contaminants connected with an environmental contamination are observed. The aim of the CAM is to provide objective data about contamination of entries into the food chain (i.e. animal feeds, feeding water, irrigation water, raw foods of plant and animal origin) in connection with the total state of environment of the Slovak Republic. Mainly in stright coherence to subsystem Areal Soil Contamination Investigation of PMS Soil Monitoring. The aim of MCB is to gain objective and real information on food contamination from the consumer network which provides the basis for nutrition policy and for the study of human exposure to contaminants. MCB has been realized since 1993.
