Nature is a normal part of the urban environment. One of the city’s distinctive natural components is the water course and its environs. However, in the past, rivers were confined in embanked river beds, had been rather neglected in the composition of urban landscape. That is why the term “riverside landscape in the city” is frequently a vague term lacking concrete substance. Necessary changes to the Danube waterfront in Novi Sad should proceed in the direction of rationalization of waterfront areas. This would highlight the development of the city, which would permit the emergence of urban living environment that will meet present as well as the future and which will allow Novi Sad to become a real city on the Danube.
