The aim of the paper is the evaluation of the secondary landscape structure and relief as one of the localisation conditions of residential and recreational areas. The research was based on GIS analyses of the mapped landscape elements and selected relief parameters derived from digital elevation model. Three rural and one urban municipality have been analysed. Although the spatial distribution of the relief characteristics within the selected cadastral areas is not optimally representative, some relationships have been identified. The altitude and slope aspect are less significant factors than slope, potential solar irradiation and landforms. Especially, the combined relief characteristics show better relevance for the comparative analyses of internally more homogeneous study areas but of mutually divergent structure..
